The scholarships are part of Active International’s efforts to attract under-represented talent to the media community.

(Toronto, ON) April 13, 2021Active International, a media and asset solutions company and Canadian leader in Corporate Trade, is pleased to announce the very first recipients of two new Inclusivity Scholarships for equity-seeking students in the Humber College Advertising and Media Management Program.

“Our mission is to help businesses Achieve More, but it is also our responsibility to do more and be more for our community.,” says President and Managing Director Andrew Bulmer. “With many equity-seeking groups under-represented in our industry, we wanted to do our part to remove barriers and offer help.”

The first two recipients of the inaugural Active Inclusivity Scholarships were presented recently at the Humber Scholarship Awards Celebration.

“The Active International Inclusivity Scholarship has given me the opportunity to focus on my graduate program without thinking as much about financial stressors. This award has made me more confident and it motivates me to keep working hard to better myself.” says Sala De Silva, one of the scholarship recipients.

De Silva plans to use her degrees in psychology, sociology, advertising and media management to help others in need. Her goal is to eventually start her own organization that helps those in underdeveloped countries with their reproductive health care needs.

“This scholarship brings me a step closer to that dream and for that I am beyond grateful.” says De Silva.

The scholarships will be awarded annually, each valued at $2500 and created through a combination of fundraising efforts by the Active International team and corporate donation.  Humber College students in the Advertising & Media Management program who identify in an equity-seeking group are eligible, including communities such as BIPOC, Indigenous Peoples, LGBTQS+ and people with disabilities.

This year Active also launched an International Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging Advisory Group, with the goal of nurturing a workplace environment that fosters a sense of inclusion and belonging for all across all international offices.

“I want to congratulate the scholarship recipients and look forward to their contributions in the industry. Your talent, perspectives, and voices are needed. The future is bright!” says Bulmer.
