The retailer worked with their corporate trade partner on a cross-purchase solution. They collaborated with their media agency to identify opportunities and buy their existing media plans through a trade partnership. In return, their corporate trade partner bought back an agreed amount of retail gift cards in cash from the retailer. Those gift cards were traded with media partners (in return for media space), to be used for staff incentives. 

Results

The retailer received a guaranteed percentage of the value of the media campaign in new business, even before the campaign went live. All by placing media they would have spent any way through corporate trade. 

As people typically spent more instore than the gift card value, the sales lift delivered to the retailer was greater.
